Style My Way

Hey lovelies! I’m going to start this Style My Way feature on my blog where I’ll take outfits that I’m inspired by and put my own spin on it. It’ll be similar to my Look for Less feature where I take celebrity style and give you affordable plus size fashion tips. As I always say, ‘you don’t have to break the bank to look & feel stylish’.

Here are a few outfits that I've been playing around with. Hope you like!

Fab & Fit: My Weight Loss Journey...Again!

Hey lovelies!!! I know….I haven’t been faithful to blogging at all. My last post is dated for November so trust I know I have been slacking BIG time! But hey, that’s LIFE for ya!
Let’s see….What have I been up to all this time you ask?? You see the title, right!?! It’s been 3 months since I threw in the towel and said enough was enough. And I’m still going strong!

IMAG0288

This is the picture that opened my eyes and made me realize that I really let myself go. Like SERIOUSLY!! It was December 7, 2012. Our company Christmas Party. The day I saw this picture was the day my journey began.

Stress and unhappiness was the major factor of my weight gain. I was trying to make a relationship work that had no hope to begin with. The result of that….emotional eating.Yep, I said it! I am an emotional eater; especially when I’m feeling down. The day I stepped on that scale and it read 224 I damn near fainted. I weighed more now then when I first moved to Houston 3 years ago. ENOUGH was ENOUGH!!!

My alternative to deal with my break up and emotional eating. EXERCISE!!! You just don’t know! Since I’ve been working out, and making healthier eating choices, I have been STRESS-FREE and HAPPIER. That was an outlet that I definitely needed. And I have no excuse  not to go to the gym because I can bring the kiddos. I drop them off in the kid center and then I go at it.

Weight Loss Journey5Weight Loss Journey6

As you can see, I started at 224.8 and as of March 1st I’m 204.4. 20 lbs down baby and still going strong!! I haven’t weighed myself since March 1st simply because I don’t want to get discouraged. Everybody around me noticed my weight loss and I get compliments all the time. But you know how it is when everyone notices the difference but you don’t. Well that’s where I’m at now.

IMAG0225

This is me 20lbs {or so} lighter. My after gym and I’m tired shot…I got a long road ahead of me but I’m not giving up!

More details on what I’m eating and my exercise routine will come soon.

{Hair Talk} Look, I Straightened My Hair

Hey lovelies! Just bringing you a quick update on my hair.

The BEGINNING

October 2011

The MIDDLE

July 2012

Straightened Hair 1123122

The END

November 2012

Straightened Hair 112312

I straightened/curled my hair for the first time in a year. I am so happy with the way my hair is progressing. The growth is amazing. I’m still working on retaining hair growth in the midsection of my mane {for the back story click here} and so far so good. My only dilemma with keeping my hair straight is trying to figure out what products to use to control the frizziness. After a few hours of straightening it {as you may notice} it frizzed up. Damn Texas humidity! Do you have suggestions?

What I did

  1. Deep conditioned with Organix Coconut Milk Conditioner {this stuff smells SO GOOD! And I LOVE the way it makes my hair feel}. Let sit for 1 hour.
  2. Added Organix Coconut Milk Anti-Breakage Serum to my damp hair. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  3. Sectioned my hair in 4 sections and added Tresemme’ Thermal Creations Heat Tamer to each section.
  4. Blow dried each section straight. {I’ve learned that this step is very important especially for chemical-free hair- It’s easier to flat iron and manage.}
  5. Clipped away split-ends.
  6. Flat ironed each section.
  7. Rolled my hair with x-tra large and large rollers.
  8. After 1 hour, unrolled my hair and VOILA!

The part that SUCKS: My hair frizzed up 2 hours later. Oh well…Trial & Error…Until next time!

{Review} Chic Peek

Hi lovelies! I was contacted by Kristin at Chic Peek, an online membership jewelry boutique. I was given the opportunity to set up a test account and give my opinion on their site.

The set up was very simple and straight-forward. First, you would take a visual style quiz. After the quiz you’ll get a personalized selection of jewelry added to your jewelry box based on your style profile. You then get to select your favorite piece of jewelry for $30. Most pieces are worth up to $300. So to get high-end jewelry for $30 is a great deal.

www.chicpeek.com

After your first purchase you will be automatically enrolled as a member. This is a monthly subscription membership so if you don’t choose a piece a jewelry you’re still going to be billed $30 for that month. You do have the option to  “opt-out” or “skip a month” though. I wanted to make that part clear so there isn’t any confusion when you lovely ladies sign up. For more info click here.

I chose the Love Knot Earrings for this review. I thought they were so CUTE! They’re sterling silver, which is a plus, and retail at $120 but are sold for the exclusive membership price of $30 at Chic Peek. The shipping was pretty quick. I placed my order on November 19 and received it today.

The packaging is so PRETTY! I really liked the personalized Thank You note.

1123121

When I opened my package I noticed that the post on one of my earrings was bent. No big deal. This can easily be fixed. But, of course, if you have any flaws in your jewelry don’t hesitate to contact customer service. My contact person, Kristin, was very nice and welcoming so I’m pretty sure customer service is the same way.

1123123

Chic Peek offers Free Shipping on all orders. And you don’t have to choose one piece of jewelry a month. You can select and buy as many pieces as you like for $30.

1123122

Overall, I highly recommend this jewelry subscription site; especially if you’re a jewelry lover like myself. I mean, who doesn’t want the option to buy high end jewelry for the low price of $30 per month? Plus you get a personalized selection sent to you based on what YOU like. I really like the earrings that I received. They will definitely be added to my daily wear collection.
